Foreign National gunned down in Karachi

KARACHI – A Chinese national has succumbed to bullet wound after being fatally shot in the head near Karachi’s Zamzama Park on Monday, police said.

A 30-year-old passer-by was also shot in the leg when unknown suspects opened indiscriminate fire in the port city. Police said nine bullet casings were found at the site of the incident.

Taking notice of the incident, Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Khan ordered district inspector general south to start an inquiry into the matter. “All measures should be taken to ensure that the suspects are arrested,” the minister said.

Last month, a Chinese woman died days after she was shot dead during a robbery in capital Islamabad. Hu Lixia, a 35-year-old mother of three, was fatally shot when three gunmen stormed a residence rented by a group of Chinese nationals on Dec. 29, 2017 in Islamabad, and looted Rs550,000 in cash (nearly US$5,000) before fleeing.
