PCB has sent two strongly worded emails to New Zealand Cricket Board

Islamabad: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sent two strongly worded emails to New Zealand Ministry of Health, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) and even considered pulling out of tour after the players were denied permission to train despite early assurances.

According to details, PCB Chief Executive (CEO) Wasim Khan wrote an email to NZC in which he stated that all cleared players are under great pressure after they were denied permission to start training and peruse intra-squad cricket activities despite clearing Covid-19 tests.

Wasim added that the players were promised training after the result of their fourth coronavirus test; however, they are still waiting response from NZC.

“Denying them permission to practice is nothing less than putting extra pressure on the players who have consecutively tested negative for the fourth time during their nine-day confinement in New Zealand,” Wasim stated in the email.

He added that after NZC’s denial to allow players to train, PCB held a meeting on Friday and considered the option of pulling out of tour.

A source within PCB stated that all players who left for New Zealand tested negative in Lahore and they might have contracted the virus on their way to New Zealand.
