CPEC Security: KP govt approves to establish special security force

PESHAWAR: (APP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government principally approved the establishment of a special security force under the name of CPEC Security Force for safeguarding CPEC routes, projects, Chinese investments and the Chinese nationals, said a press release issued here by the Home & Tribal Affairs Department on Wednesday.

It said the provincial government was taking keen interest in CPEC projects and would ensure providing better security to all the investors in the best interest of the province.

The Home & Tribal Affairs Department and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police had completed their consultations on the formation and features of CPEC Security Force. For this purpose, the provincial government would purchase equipment, weapons, ammunitions, vehicles etc of worth Rs. 1.2 billion.

The special security force would initially comprise of 4200 security personnel who would be deputed from different sources i.e. Police, different Security Forces on contract basis. This force would have its own chain of command and a gradual increase would be made in its formation.

A Special Cell in Home & Triable Affairs Department would also be established to daily monitor the activities related to CPEC security, foreign investors and investments. The force would exist in all those divisions of the province where the projects related to CPEC were under operations.
