A four-member delegation representing the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) arrived in Pakistan today through the Wagah Border for a two-day visit. The leader of this delegation is BCCI President Roger Binny, and BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla is also playing a prominent role during this important visit to Pakistan.
This visit marks a significant event as it's the first time a BCCI delegation has visited Pakistan since 2008. The delegation's main purpose is to hold discussions of mutual interest with officials from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and attend the Asia Cup 2023 match between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan at the Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday. Additionally, they are likely to be present at Pakistan's Super Four match on Wednesday.
It's important to note that this visit is solely focused on cricket and carries no political implications. The Punjab Governor has organized a dinner for the delegation in Lahore as a gesture of hospitality. Upon their arrival at the Wagah Border, media coverage was restricted, and they were taken to the Pearl Continental hotel with tight security measures in place, where teams from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh are currently staying. As a diplomatic gesture, the delegation will also attend an official dinner hosted at the Governor's House.
