DG ISI Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum to be given extension, claims top journalist

Lieutenant General Nadeem Anjum to be given an extension as the Director General of the ISI. Senior journalist Kamran Khan claimed on the social media website Twitter that during a time when Army Chief General Qasim Munir is leading Pakistan through its worst economic crisis, an increase in terrorism, and extremely crucial geo-political developments, credible sources have claimed that the relevant leadership has made the decision to extend Lieutenant General's services.

Kamran Khan further stated that General Nadim Ahmed Anjum will remain in his role as DG ISI for an additional year. He also mentioned that Pakistan's military, in collaboration with ISI and related civilian agencies, will play a central role in addressing pressing issues such as smuggling along the borders with Iran and Afghanistan, reducing the dollar deficit, and facilitating rapid negotiations.

Furthermore, all major elements of military security services, including ISI and MI, are already working to facilitate billions of dollars in investments under the SIFC framework in the agricultural and mineral sectors and in IT sectors to ease Pakistan's taxation system and to combat bureaucratic corruption in Sindh.

Kamran Khan added that Lieutenant General Nadim Anjum's tenure as a three-star general was set to conclude at the end of this week. He also noted that Lieutenant General Anjum is not the first DG ISI to have their tenure extended. Previously, Lieutenant General Akhtar Abdul Rahman Khan and Lieutenant General Ahmed Shuja Pasha had their terms extended as DG ISI.

The senior journalist further clarified that there has been no official confirmation or denial from the military leadership regarding the extension of Lieutenant General Nadim's tenure as DG ISI.
