CTD thwarts major terror attack

In Pakistan's Punjab province, law enforcement agencies have successfully thwarted a significant terrorist plot through the apprehension of seven suspected terrorists, including two prominent ISIL commanders, as revealed by the police on Monday.
These individuals were taken into custody by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Punjab police during a series of intelligence-driven operations conducted in various districts of the province.
According to the CTD spokesperson, a total of 49 intelligence-based operations were carried out throughout the province, resulting in the arrest of seven suspected terrorists associated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, which included two high-ranking ISIS commanders. Notably, both of these commanders had been operating within Punjab.
The spokesperson highlighted that these arrested terrorists had devised plans to target significant installations and various locations throughout the province, posing a substantial threat to security.
Law enforcement authorities have taken decisive action by registering six cases against the apprehended individuals. Moreover, they have seized a cache of materials, including 3,100 grams of explosives, 14 detonators, 10 feet of protective fuse wire, prohibited literature, cell phones, and cash from the suspects.
This recent operation follows the earlier arrest of five female ISIL terrorists in Lahore and Sheikhupura within the Punjab province. It is part of a broader effort to combat terrorism, as demonstrated by the CTD's apprehension of over 20 terrorists associated with banned organizations in various areas of Punjab last month.
