KARACHI: Thar Coal project is one of the biggest projects of government of Pakistan to generate electricity from the coal deposits of Pakistan.

Thar Coal project to supply 660 MW of electricity by 2019
Thar Coal project, costing over two billion dollars would supply 660 MW of electricity to the national grid by 2019.
The Chief Executive Officer of Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company Shamsuddin Shaikh while briefing media about the project in Hyderabad informed this.
He said fifteen Pakistani and three Chinese banks are financing the project.
He said out of 186 billion tons of coal in Pakistan, 175 tons is available only in Thar.
