British news agency "The Times" has referred to a report from the British intelligence agency, stating that a Chinese nuclear submarine got stuck in its own fishing net and sank, resulting in the loss of 55 Chinese navy personnel.
According to the report, this incident occurred in the "Yellow Sea." However, Taiwan has raised doubts about the submarine incident.
The British intelligence report identifies the Chinese navy's submarine with the code "093-417" and mentions that on August 21, the submarine suffered catastrophic damage, leading to a decrease in oxygen levels for the crew.
The report further states that among the casualties, there are captains and 21 officers.
The Times' report suggests that near the Shandong province in northern Shanghai, the Chinese navy submarine got trapped in a fishing net deployed by their own forces, leading to oxygen depletion within the submarine.
According to the British intelligence officials mentioned in the report, "We believe the deaths on the submarine occurred due to a system failure, resulting in hypoxia (oxygen deficiency)."
