Former PM Imran Khan gets some relief from the special court

A special court established under the Official Secrets Act granted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief permission to communicate with his sons via WhatsApp.

The plea for this permission was heard by Special Court Judge Abual Hasnaat Zulqarnain, who considered the request made by PTI chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Advocate Sheraz Ahmad Ranjha had submitted the application on behalf of Imran Khan.

Following the hearing, the special court approved the PTI chairman's request to converse with his sons through WhatsApp. Imran Khan, the former prime minister, has been in judicial custody in connection with a cipher case and has been detained in Attock prison since his arrest on August 5.

The cipher case originated when the first information report (FIR) was filed on August 15 under the Official Secrets Act, based on a complaint by the Home Secretary.

The FIR named former Prime Minister Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, and it also mentioned former Principal Secretary Azam Khan and former Planning Minister Asad Umar.
