Govt decides to launch crackdown against troublemakers

Government has decided to launch crackdown against troublemakers who vandalized the public property and injured innocent citizens in the garb of peaceful protests against the Supreme Court decision in Asia Bibi case.

The Ministry of Interior, in a statement, says the Ulema-e-Karam have assured the government that the vandalism was done by miscreants who were not part of their ranks.

Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi was given a detailed briefing by different agencies on the situation. Cyber Wing of Federal Investigation Agency and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority are reviewing the inflammatory content on social media. Both the agencies have been directed to obtain forensic data of miscreants.

Action will be taken against those who are spreading contents based on hate and violence. Details of damages have also been sought from Punjab government and other institutions. Interior Ministry has also asked for footages of people involved in miscreancy. The elements will be identified through footages and arrests will be made.

Videos and photographs are being collected from Nowshera, Chakri, Sheikhupura, Faizpur, Kalat, and Karachi.
