Federal government establishes fund for science and technology

ISLAMABAD - Transformers Roadshow was inaugurated in Islamabad today by President Islamic Development Bank Dr. Bandar Hajjar and Coordinator COMSTECH.
Addressing the ceremony, Coordinator COMSTECH Dr. Tariq Banuri said Higher Education Commission organizes various competitions in cooperation with Microsoft to promote the culture of science and technology. He said 232 plans and projects were presented from across the country to participate in Transformers Roadshow.
He said a fund has been established to promote science and technology and innovations in the country.
In his address, President Islamic Development Bank Dr. Bandar Hajjar said Pakistan is the third largest recipient of Islamic Development Bank funding. Dr. Bandar Hajjar said a fund worth 500 million dollar has been established by the IDB for science, technology and innovation. He said the bank is providing funding for sustainable economic development in the Islamic world.
President IDB said so far a funding of more than 12 billion dollars has been given to Pakistan. He said 370 million dollars were provided for Neelum-Jhelum project in Pakistan while preferential funding is being given for CASA 1000 power project and development of science and technology in the country.
Under the roadshow, twenty teams from across the country were selected for science and technology contest.
The three winning teams from Pakistan will be given 3000 dollars each and will be sent to Senegal.
