Govt fully believes in rule of law: Dr Firdous

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the government fully believes in the rule of law and the cabinet reaffirmed to ensure implementation of law in matter of references about judges.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad regarding the decisions of federal cabinet, she said that Prime Minister Imran Khan, chairing the cabinet meeting, observed that no one is above the law.

She said law minister briefed the cabinet about the reasons for filing references about the judges of superior judiciary.

Dr Firdous said that Asset Recovery Unit had received a complaint about assets of  judges and the Supreme Judicial Council will decide about credibility of the information.

She advised the media to avoid discussion on the references.

She said that the cabinet also approved the Cash Management and Treasury Single Account Policy 2019 which aimed at effective management of cash and loans of the government.

The special assistant said that the cabinet also approved extension of visas for Chinese experts and professionals working on CPEC projects in the country.

She said that the cabinet has instructed the Ministry of Planning to formulate a policy for ensuring jobs for Pakistani workers and skilled labours at different projects being implemented under CPEC.
