Bahria Town agreed to build Dadhocha dam in JV with Punjab govt: SC told

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) informed that Bahria Town was ready to accept all conditions of the Punjab government to build Dadhocha Dam in Rawalpidi with a joint venture (JV).

A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Umer Ata Bandyal and Justice Ijazul Ahsen, heard a suo motu case regarding disobedience of its order on building of Dadhucha and Papeem Dams to overcome water related issues in Rawalpindi.

The Punjab additional advocate general submitted proposal before the bench and said the government had no issue to build dam in a joint venture with Bahria Town.
Aitzaz Ahsan counsel for the Bahria Town pleaded that his client was ready to build the dam on the proposal of the government, however, he has some concerns on revenue matters.

The chief justice said Dadhocha Dam would be a joint venture of the Punjab government and Bahria Town, however, its revenue issue would be settled down later on.
Subsequently, the bench directed the litigants to submit agreement to be held between the parties in the apex court and adjourned further hearing of the case till January 14.
