India's arms race fever; India to purchase Russian precision-guided bombs, Israeli missiles

New Delhi: Continuing with its hegemonic designs in the region, India will acquire precision-guided bombs from Russia and Barak missiles from Israel.

Indian Defence Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, has cleared two procurement deals worth Rs 1.714 billion to acquire 240 precision-guided bombs from Russia and 131 Barak missiles from Israel.

The “smart” KAB-1500 laser-guided bombs will be procured from M/s JSC Rosoboron Exports (Russia) for Sukhoi-30MKI fighter jets.

The 131 additional Barak-I missiles to be acquired from M/s Rafael Advanced Defence Systems Ltd (Israel) are meant to arm the earlier version of the anti-missile defence systems fitted on 14 Indian warships.

While the Barak-I system has an interception range of 9-km, the next-generation Barak-8 system now being fitted on other frontline warships like the Kolkata-class destroyers has a kill range of 70-km.

India spends huge amount of its budget on defence despite being nuclear power and continues to threaten other states by such artifices.

Based on quest of India for arms race, India must see that because of these moves other states are compelled for same actions.

It is spending huge amount of its defence budget without thinking what kind of bloodshed it is doing in Kashmir and how it is enforcing other states in South Asia for arms race.
