Chairman NAB directs examination of alleged misappropriation of finances

ISLAMABAD: Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal on Wednesday took notice of alleged misappropriation of finances by Member National Assembly (MNA), Capt. (Retd) Safdar and directed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Bureau to conduct transparent examination of the matter.
Capt. (Retd) Safdar has been alleged of awarding Rs 3 billion contracts to his preferred contractors without following rules and regulations and later misappropriated Rs 2 billion through fake schemes out of the total said amount.
A statement issued here said that the Chairman has directed NAB's Director General KP to conduct examination of allegations on merit, transparently and as per rules and regulations so that the misappropriated amount could be recovered, credited into national kitty and those involved could be punished.
