Prominent international daily "the New York times" says the onslaught on freedom of expression by Modi led BJP government in India has completely destroyed democracy in that country.
In an article, the paper said Modi government has constantly opted for stifling dissent through arrests, killings and crack down on means of information in response to its contentious policies like citizenship laws that disadvantaged Muslims, clampdown on the disputed region of Kashmir and now the farmers’ protests.
The paper said Indian authorities have arrested hundreds of Kashmiris since August 5th, 2019 and have denied them bails drawing international condemnation for assault on rule of law.
