Punjab Health deptt announces Rs200mn package for Gilgit Baltistan

LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Health Dr. Yasmin Rashid said that 11 ambulances and other medical equipments wroth Rs. 200 million were being gifted by the Punjab Health department to the people of Gilgit Baltistan as goodwill gesture.
Addressing a press conference after a special meeting with Governor Gilgit Baltistan Raja Jalal Hussain at Primary and Secondary Healthcare department here, she said this would help further improve the health services being provided to the people of Gilgit Baltistan.
The minister said the health package for the people of Gilgit Balistan included seven automatic Elisa, nine chemistry analyzers, four digital radiography, nine X-ray film processors, 22 dental unit components, 22 dental instruments, seven bio-chemistry analyzers, four c-arms, 30 cardiac monitors and 70 cardiac beds besides 11 ambulances.
While quota of five sets each in 11 nurses colleges of Punjab would be given to the students of Gilgit Baltistan, she said and added that in this way number of seats for the students of Gilgit Baltistan would reach 55.
The Minister said that people from all over the world attracted towards the beautification of Sakardu and Gilgit Baltistan as these were world famous tourists spot.
She said that promotion of tourism was the top priority of the PTI’s government.
She said, “Peace has now been restored in Gilgit Baltistan with the grace of Almighty Allah and people from all over the world are coming to Sakardu and Gilgit Baltistan.” She said that availability of the best healthcare facilities in such areas were need of the hour, adding, the Punjab government would soon establish a state-of-the-art trauma center for the people of the area as well as for the tourists which would provide modern healthcare facilities to the patients in case of any emergency.
The Governor Gilgit Baltistan said that he was thankful to the Punjab government especially Dr. Yasmin Rashid for that health package for the people of Gilgit Baltistan.
He said that health package of Rs. 200 million would greatly help to further improve the healthcare facilities in Gilgit Baltistan.
Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Zahid Akhtar Zaman, DG Health Services Punjab Dr. Haroon Jehangir, Additional Secretary Technical Dr. Asim and other officers were also present on the occasion.
