Pop Singer Nazia Hassan 51st birthday is being celebrated today


ISLAMABAD: Renowned late Pop Singer Nazia Hassan's 51st birthday is being celebrated today by her fans across the world including Pakistan. Cake-cutting ceremonies are being held in all the four provinces of Pakistan, paying tribute to her services in the field of music.

 

As per details, Nazia Hassan was born in Karachi on April 3, 1965. She spent her childhood in educational institutions of Karachi and London. She reached at the heights of fame in 1980 at the age of only 15 years when she sang “Ap jesa koi meri Zindagi main aye toh bat ban jaye” song in Feroz Khan Film Qurbani.

 

Nazia also worked in several programmes and TV Commercials on PTV while she introduced new dimensions in Pakistani music industry with her brother Zohaib Hassan.

 

Nazia also introduced western style in music industry of Pakistan which got massive popularity among youth of Pakistan, USA, UK, UAE, India and Latin America that’s why she is considered among the founders of pop music.  

 

She had been awarded several national and international awards over her services in music industry while her songs had also been used in Pakistani and Bollywood films. She was conferred pride of performance, best female playback singer award and 15 gold disks award.

 

Nazia died in August, 2000 in a hospital in London at the age of 35 years. She was suffering from  cancer.
