Shaheen Afridi makes bold claim about yesterday's clash with India

Pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi emphasized the importance of bowling in partnerships as he discussed the strategy behind unsettling India's batting in the Asia Cup blockbuster, which was ultimately abandoned due to rain.

He stated, 'Mickey (Arthur) always says, "fast bowlers win you tournaments," and we always aim to bowl in partnerships.' Afridi also highlighted the roles of his fellow fast bowlers, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah, in creating fear and relying on swing respectively."

Shaheen played a pivotal role in dismissing key Indian batsmen, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, with Rohit falling to well-executed outswingers and Kohli chopping on to a length delivery.

Reflecting on this, he noted, 'Virat is the backbone of the Indian team, and getting his wicket was crucial.'

Despite the match ending in a draw due to rain, Shaheen remained confident that Pakistan could have emerged victorious without the weather interruption.

“We had the result in our hands. But overall the team performance in one innings was very good.”

His impressive opening spell earned praise from former speedster Shoaib Akhtar, who remarked, 'I don't think Rohit is able to read or understand Shaheen at all.'"
