Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has affirmed that the government's finance and power teams are tirelessly working to find a sustainable solution to the electricity bill issue. In an exclusive interview with a private TV channel on Sunday night, he shared that plans for effectively implementing energy conservation measures will soon be unveiled.
The Prime Minister extended an appeal to the entire nation, including the business community and Ulema, urging them to collaborate with the government in executing this plan. He emphasized the importance of avoiding extreme social and economic attitudes for the betterment of society.
Furthermore, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar highlighted that unjustifiable contracts with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), subpar transmission lines, and instances of electricity theft have exacerbated the burdens faced by the middle class. As a member of the middle class himself, he fully empathizes with the struggles of the people, and concerted efforts are underway to address the multifaceted challenges posed by electricity bills.
Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar also conveyed ongoing efforts to enhance the economic and social safety nets of the country, with particular benefits expected for the middle and underprivileged classes. Importantly, he categorically refuted any intention to prolong his tenure as caretaker prime minister, emphasizing his commitment to upholding the law of the land.
In recognition of the vital role of an independent judiciary within the state, he assured that his administration would wholeheartedly adhere to decisions made by the higher judiciary concerning election conduct and would provide full assistance to the Election Commission in this regard.
