DPO Pakpattan transfer suo moto case: SC orders two inquiries

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday held the hearing of the suo moto case in the transfer of the DPO Pakpattan Rizwan Gondal.
SC ordered to hold two inquires in suo moto notice of District Police Officer (DPO) Pakpattan Rizwan Gondal case.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar took a suo motu notice of the DPO’s transfer following an alleged altercation with Khawar Maneka — the former husband of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife.
Khawar Maneka, Ahsan Jamil Gojjar, Punjab Inspector General Kaleem Imam, former DPO Pakpattan, Punjab Chief Minister’s (CM) Personal Staff Officer (PSO)Haider and Chief Security Officer (CSO) appeared before SC and submitted their affidavits.
The chief justice ordered to hold two inquiries including alleged mistreatment of Khawar Fareed Maneka’s daughter by Punjab police personnel and the political interference in the sudden transfer of DPO Pakpattan Rizwan Gondal.
The apex court directed Punjab IG Kaleem Imam and Additional Punjab IG Abubakar Khuda Bakhsh to submit the investigation reports within one week. The court also showed the signal to take action against Ahsan Jameel.
During the hearing, the chief justice expressed anger on the Punjab IG and asked that show the file in which the transfer order was made, saying that did this order was given verbal or written. The CJP also inquired that “why you did not stop him for going to CM’s office. You obeyed the order of the ruler.”
