During the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 in Hangzhou, China, Pakistan suffered a significant setback as Arshad Nadeem had to withdraw from the competition due to injury.
The renowned javelin thrower was initially scheduled to participate in the competition tomorrow, but now, Pakistan's hopes of winning a medal have been dashed. Additionally, an MRI scan has revealed that Arshad Nadeem was dealing with a knee injury, which is a major setback for Pakistan in this prestigious event.
"Arshad Nadeem underwent a comprehensive MRI at a local hospital in Hangzhou, revealing a chronic injury that he has been carrying," sources disclosed. Notably, the 25-year-old recently secured a silver medal in the World Athletics Championship in Hungary, claiming the second position in the competition.
Arshad Nadeem, who had won a gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games (CWG), made his comeback after a year-long hiatus caused by an extended injury.
After undergoing elbow surgery, Nadeem underwent rehabilitation at the PSB Coaching Centre and resumed his training before the World Athletics Championship.
