Indian police fire tear gas, water cannon to protesting farmers

NEW DELHI: In India, thousands of protesting farmers are heading for capital New Delhi to demand better prices for their produce.
According to media reports, reeling from a crash in commodity prices, over fifty thousand farmers from Uttar Pradesh state blocked part of the main highway to the capital.
Police fired tear gas and water cannons to halt and disperse a march. Several farmers were injured as a result.
