Asad Qaiser, a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was apprehended at his residence in Islamabad on Friday. His arrest was confirmed in a video statement released by his brother, who detailed that law enforcement and plainclothes individuals arrived at their home to detain Asad Qaiser while he was present.
Following his arrest, Asad Qaiser was transported to an undisclosed location, reportedly taken into custody by both the police and anti-corruption officials at his Bani Gala residence.
The arrest is associated with corruption allegations related to the procurement of medical equipment for the Gaju Khan Medical College Swabi.
It's noteworthy that Asad Qaiser was part of a PTI delegation that recently met with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam.
Moreover, an Anti-Corruption Court in Peshawar had previously extended his interim bail until November 14, stemming from accusations of illicit appointments made in the Swabi education department during the PTI's governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
