Mepco arrests 2,049 power pilferers in February

MULTAN: Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco), along with the district tasks force, conducted raids and caught 2,049 power pilferers, and imposed over Rs 65.6 million fine on them in February across the region. According to Mepco spokesman, the teams caught 425 domestic, commercial, tube-well, industrial power pilferers and imposed Rs 19.2 million fine on them. Rs 16.1 million fine was imposed on 723 power pilferers in DG Khan circle, Rs 5.6 million on 164 power pilferers in Vehari circle.
Similarly, Rs 3.8 million fine was imposed on 136 power pilferers in Bahawalpur circle, Rs 4.4 million on 140 power pilferers in Sahiwal circle, Rs 2 million on 90 pilferers in Rahim Yar Khan circle, Rs 8.1 million on 225 power pilferers in Muzaffargarh circle, Rs 3.4 million on 61 power pilferers in Bahawalnagar circle and Rs 2.8 million fine on 85 power pilferers in Khanewal circle in February. The teams lodged cases against 1,103 power pilferers.
