Senate Elections: Punjab, Islamabad and FATA results unveiled

ISLAMABAD - According to unofficial and unverified results, the PML-N-backed candidates bagged 11 of 12 seats in the Punjab Assembly. The count for the 12th seat is under way between the PTI and PML-N-backed independent candidate.

From FATA, independent candidates Hidayatullah, Hilalur Rehman, Shamim Afridi and Mirza Afridi have been elected as senators, according to unofficial results.

Moreover, as per unverified reports, PML-N's Mushahid Hussain Sayed bagged Islamabad's technocrat seat.

Lawmakers began voting at 9amacross the four provincial assemblies and the National Assembly.

Candidates contested for 52 seats from the provinces, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and the federal capital.

The opposition Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is currently in control of the Senate but is expected to be replaced by the PML-N as the largest party
