Freedom for Kashmir posters sprang up at JNU New Delhi
ISLAMABAD: (APP) A poster demanding freedom for Kashmir and Palestine sprang up at the campus of the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi.
According to Kashmir Media Service, The poster with "Freedom for Kashmir! Free Palestine! Right to Self-Determination, Long Live DSU" written on it was pasted on the wall by the Democratic Students Union (DSU).
Some students noticed the poster on the wall of the new block of the School of Social Sciences (SSS) and informed the administration of the university.
The JNU authorities asked the university security to remove the poster.
DSU's former members Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya and others had organized an event at the JNU last year against the hanging of Kashmiri youth, Muhammad Afzal Guru.
During the event, anti-India slogans were raised.
Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya and former student union president Kanhaiya Kumar were booked under sedition over the event but were later granted bail by courts.
On the other hand, a video footage shows students raising "Azadi" slogans for "Kashmir and Bastar" during a protest at Delhi University's Ramjas College last week.
In the short video aired by several news channels, a motley group of students is heard shouting `Kashmir Maange Azadi' (Kashmir demands freedom), `Bastar Maange Azadi' (Bastar demands freedom) among other such slogans.
The news channels claimed that the video footage was captured during a protest at Ramjas College last week after cancellation of invitations to JNU students Umar Khalid and Shehla Rashid for addressing a literary event in the campus.
