ANF recovers 2.9 tons drugs worth Rs. 6.2 billion

RAWALPINDI: (APP) Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) Pakistan in its countrywide crackdown on drug traffickers conducted 17 operations and recovered 2.9 tons drugs valuing Rs 6.2 billion in international market and arrested 17 traffickers.

The seized drugs included 2734 kg Morphine, 213 kg Hashish, 7.6 kg Heroin, 1.9 kgs Ice and one kg Opium and ANF also impounded four vehicles.

According to ANF spokesman, ANF Quetta on an intelligence tip off conducted an operation in District Chaghi and recovered 2734 kg Morphine.

This was the largest single seizure of Morphine in the history of ANF.

As per preliminary reports, drug was stocked for handing over to another narcotics gang. In another operation, ANF arrested a trafficker Habib-ur-Rehaman resident of Quetta and recovered 10 kg Hashish from his possession. The accused was arrested near Al-Asif Shandar Hotel, Mastung Road, Quetta.

ANF Lahore arrested a passenger Muhammad Usman r/o Khushab at Allama Iqbal International Airport, while he was boarding for Saudi Arabia and recovered 1.9 kg Amphetamine concealed in his bag. In second operation, ANF Lahore recovered 1.05 kg Heroin and 2.250 kg Hashish from two motorcyclist Muhammad Farzan and Muhammad Ayub r/o Faisalabad. 995 gram Heroin was recovered by ANF Lahore from a parcel being sent to UK. Heroin was concealed in cotton box. In yet another operation, ANF Lahore recovered 1.8 kg Hashish from possession of Shah Ali r/o Multan at Sher Shah Road, Multan. In its fifth operation, ANF Lahore arrested a drug peddler, Muhammad Zaman r/o Lahore from Band Road, Lahore and recovered 2.4 kg Hashish from his possession.

In sixth operation, ANF Lahore arrested a local drug supplier identified as Nasar Ullah along with one kg Hashish and one kg Opium from Shadia Chowk, Tehsil Piplan, District Mianwali. In seventh operation, ANF Lahore intercepted a UK destined parcel at air cargo shed Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore and seized 70 gram Heroin concealed in ladies hand purse. The parcel was booked by Waqas Qadir r/o Swabi.

ANF Rawalpindi arrested two local drug suppliers identified as Raja Muhammad Hussain Haider and Muhammad Jameel Mirza both r/o Jhelum at Dina and recovered 1.13 kg Hashish from their possession. In a separate operation, ANF Rawalpindi recovered 500 gram Hashish from possession of a motorcyclist, Muhammad Siddique, who was arrested from Jhala Khan Chowk, Attock. In addition, ANF Rawalpindi in a raid near Jada Chowk, GT Road, Jhelum arrested a local drug seller, Zaheer r/o Jhelum along with 500 gram Hashish.

ANF Peshawar on pursuance of an intelligence report intercepted a truck at Indus Highway, Kohat and recovered 150 kgs Hashish concealed in hidden cavities. Two persons on board identified as Atta Ullah and Noor Ali Shah r/o North Waziristan were taken into custody.

ANF Karachi seized a parcel being sent to UK through a courier Service Company based at Karachi, recovering 5.5 kg Heroin, concealed inside Ink markers. The parcel was booked from Islamabad. ANF Karachi in a joint operation with Pakistan Rangers Sindh seized 15 kg Hashish from possession of two local drug peddlers namely Obaid Ullah and Azhar Baloch r/o Karachi who were arrested near Murtaza Chorangi, Karachi.

In another operation, ANF Karachi in collaboration with Pakistan Rangers Sindh raided a place at Mohallah Siraj Colony, Nazimabad, Karachi and seized 28 kg Hashish, arresting two drug suppliers identified as Muhammad Subhan and Ayub Masih both r/o Karachi.

Separate cases have been registered at respective ANF Police Stations under CNS Act 1997 while further investigations are underway.
