Afghan soldiers attack NATO troops in Afghanistan

KABUL - The Afghan Army's commander in the western part of Afghanistan confirmed that two Afghan border guards opened fire with anti-tank weapon to the armored vehicle of the NATO foreign troops in the city of Shindand in the province of Herat.

Noorullah Qaderi told local media on Wednesday that the attack had taken place at the arrival of Italian forces to the border guards' headquarters, where one of the invading Afghan soldiers had been killed in exchange of fire and one was injured and arrested.

Qaderi, without mentioning the cause and motive of the attack, added that the attack of two Afghan soldiers with RPG against the tank of military advisers in the city of Shindand did not harm the foreign forces.

Also, five military forces were killed and six others were wounded by attackers against an army base in Maywand, Kandahar Province.

Afghan news sources said the Taliban group had advanced through tunneling to a base in Maywand after laying the bomb left the tunnel that exploded earlier this afternoon, in addition to inflicting casualties on bases also damaged the structures.
