ISLAMABAD – Pakistan on Thursday said that it is looking forward to positive engagement with the United States at the leadership level.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal was responding to the queries of media persons at his weekly news briefing in Islamabad on the statement made by US President Donald Trump that he is willing to meet the new Pakistani leadership.
The spokesperson said President Donald Trump’s remarks are indeed a departure from his 1st January 2018 tweet.
Earlier, US President said "We want to have a great relationship with Pakistan."
However, he also accused Islamabad of "housing the enemy and taking care of him".
Reportedly, his remarks came when he was addressing a meeting with the cabinet members.
"When we give money to Pakistan, $1.3 billion, I ended that. A lot of people don t know it, because they haven t been fair to us," Trump said.
