KP government launches first ever health policy in the history of province

PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister Health Dr. Hisham Inam Ullah Khan said that the first ever health policy has been approved by the provincial cabinet here on Sunday with more focus to facilitate the poor and needy people. He said this during press briefing soon after the provincial cabinet given approval to the first ever health policy. Dr. Hisham Inam Ullah Khan said looking after the basic need and facility to the poor the policy has been formulated. He said that the PTI government in the past had also formulated similar type of steps in the health sector to form a system under which the poor and needy people could be facilitated. Dr. Hisham said that the basic structure in the health sector would be improved under the said policy and new things would be introduced so that to fulfill the basic need of the people in health sector. He said introducing health card was a milestone of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf government in the past with the basic aim to facilitate the basic general public in the hospitals run by the government. It has been insured the availability of the doctors, paramedics staff besides availability of the required medicines to the patients. He said that steps have been taken to make ensure each and every hospital will equip at the district headquarters across the province so that to lower down the burden over the big hospitals in provincial capital Peshawar. Dr. Hisham Inam Ullah Khan said that revolutionary steps have already been taken to make ensure quality healthcare facility to the general public. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has taken distinction over other provinces to be the first province of introducing the first ever health policy. He said under the policy not only the urban but the people in the rural areas would be facilitated. Dr. Hisham said that in the said policy, the whole structure of healthcare system was up-graded and everyone should be answerable and accountable of their act. He said the policy has been formulated in the light of the suggestions and proposals being given by 30 top healthcare experts in the field. He said that in the next five years steps would be taken by the government in the light of the suggestion and proposal given by the experts in the said policy. Hisham said before introducing the health policy the basic structure of health department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was upgraded under which proper data system has been introduced at each and every Basic Health Units. He said that every time with the government change new policy had been introduced which badly damaged the healthcare sector. He said under the new policy the ongoing projects and new projects would be completed on priority basis so that to make ensure quality healthcare facility to the people.
