WASHINGTON: US General Campbell said that US forces must stay in Afghanistan till 2024 for the better results of decade’s long war against terrorism.
Campbell claimed that if US forces leave Afghanistan at this point of time then 2016 will be worse than 2015.
He said that Afghan forces are not ready to take hold of the situation and they need leadership to defeat militants, Taliban, Al-Qaeda, ISIS and Haqani network.
Afghanistan is facing rising ISIS threat and economic stability problems which requires continuous US engagement for the stability of region.
General John Campbell said all this before a congressional committee in USA.
He has led NATO forces for past 18 months in Afghanistan and expected to retire soon. He is being replaced with General Nicholson of US Armed Forces as US and allied forces Commander in Afghanistan.
