*ISLAMABAD: *Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman is in hot waters over acquisition of 600 kanals land illegally during the Musharraf era.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday stated that the anti-corruption watchdog is investigating illegal allotment of martyrs’ land in Dera Ismail Khan.
In a press release, the NAB said legal action will be taken against the suspects involved in the case.
Earlier in the day, PTI’s Shafqat Mehmood alleged that Fazlur Rehman was illegally allotted 600 kanals in DI Khan during Musharraf regime.
Addressing a press conference at the National Press Club (NPC), he said that NAB should tell that how the land allocated for the martyrs was given to the Kashmir Committee Chairman Fazalur Rehman.
“Fazlur Rehman has only used politics for personal benefits,” he had said.
The NAB had initiated the investigations in 2009-10 after taking notice of the media reports, the PTI leader claimed and added that it was proved that allotments were done through illegal transactions.
“But the case was later dropped,” claimed Mehmood, asking, why the probe was stopped.
The PTI leader said that Fazlur Rehman got the seat of the Kashmir Committee chairman only to gain perks and privileges. He added that the JUI-F chief’s politics is self-centred.
