Pakistan - Turkey-Cultural ties to be enhanced

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Pakistan's Ambassador to Turkey Sohail Mahmood met with President of Yunus Emre Institute, Prof. Dr. Seref Ates, in Ankara.
Matters related to bilateral cultural cooperation and enhanced people-to-people exchanges were discussed.
According to a message received here Friday from Ankara, Ambassador Sohail Mahmood highlighted the key events organized by the Pakistan Embassy during 2015-16 as part of cultural diplomacy and intensified people-to-people contacts.
The two sides also reviewed progress on the establishment of Yunus Emre Cultural Centers in Pakistan.
"Once established, the Cultural Centers would be the best address in the country for all information relating to Turkey and its culture," Prof. Dr. Seref Ates said.
During the meeting, the rich combined cultural heritage of the people of Pakistan and Turkey was highlighted, with special reference to the contributions of Movlana Jalaluddin Rumi, Allama Mohammad Iqbal, and Mehmet Akif Ersoy.
Both sides agreed to deepen mutual collaboration, including through hosting of exhibitions and facilitating exchange of artists.
