Several positive changes in Supreme Court after CJP Qazi Faiz Isa took over command

Islamabad: After Justice Qazi Faiz Isa became the Chief Justice, there has been a positive change in the Supreme Court, with a reduction in the backlog of cases. During the week from September 25th to September 30th, a total of 257 cases were disposed of as part of the Supreme Court's efforts to reduce the backlog of 57,000 cases. Additionally, 204 new cases were filed in the Supreme Court.

According to reports in English newspapers, a senior lawyer mentioned that Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa's approach reflects his seriousness in restoring the integrity of the Supreme Court, which has been significantly affected by divisions in the judiciary in the past.

They also pointed out that Chief Justice Faiz Isa has shown no interest in seeking revenge or taking retribution, as he himself has gone through a bitter experience in the past due to a presidential reference against him.

They emphasized that Chief Justice has made crucial reforms by involving senior judges in all important matters, such as setting hearings before different benches, and holding regular meetings with bar associations and officers, ensuring much-needed improvements.

Immediately after taking office, Chief Justice convened an extremely important full-court meeting and formed a full-court bench for the hearing of the Practice and Procedure Act 2023.

They granted permission for live streaming of their first case as Chief Justice and then approved the appointment of retired District and Sessions Judge Hyat Ali Shah as Director-General of the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA) for a one-year term, a matter that had been pending for quite some time.
