Increase in electricity prices approved by federal government

Islamabad: The government has increased electricity grades and electricity rates for consumers.
Following the approval of the federal government, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued a notification regarding fuel adjustment, granting approval for an increase of Rs. 3.28 in electricity rates per unit during the monthly adjustment.
This increase will impose an additional burden of Rs. 159 billion on electricity consumers. This adjustment was made in the context of the fourth quarterly fuel adjustment for the fiscal year 2022/23.
Meanwhile, a notification has been issued, indicating that consumers will incur additional charges for the next six months.
