In Lahore, Sanam Javed Khan and fellow female activists from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have been placed under a 14-day judicial remand in a vandalism case, as reported by ARY News.
According to the details provided, the police presented a report to the court, identifying Sanam Javed Khan's involvement in a case related to an attack on a police van. The police requested the court to grant physical remand for the PTI female activists involved in the police van attack case.
However, the court rejected the plea for physical remand and instead sent the PTI female activists into a 14-day judicial remand. Ashima and Shah Bano were discharged from the case due to a lack of evidence implicating them in the vandalism incident.
Earlier, these PTI women activists had been re-arrested shortly after being released from Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore. Policewomen took them into custody from the jail, following their release.
This re-arrest occurred because their families were reluctant to take them home, fearing further arrests. Previously, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) had ordered the release of PTI activist Sanam Javed Khan and other party activists in connection with the Jinnah House attack case.
The court approved bail pleas for several PTI activists, including Sanam Javed Khan, Robina Jameel, Afshan Tariq, Ashma Shuja, Shah Bano, Faisal Akhtar, Qasim, Ali Hasan, and Hussain Qadri.
