CJP Qazi Faiz Isa gives written verdict of Faizabad sit in case appeals

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Qazi Faiz Isa, issued a comprehensive four-page written order in the Faizabad sit-in case, addressing pending issues and offering both parties an opportunity to present further evidence and clarification.

During the hearing, the court raised questions about the case's delay, the filing and withdrawal of reconsideration pleas, and the non-following of the court's decision over four years.

The court granted both parties a chance to address these questions. The Ministry of Defence, PEMRA, and the Intelligence Bureau requested to withdraw their review requests, causing confusion among the general public regarding paragraph 17 of the Faizabad sit-in case ruling.

The Attorney General argued against expanding the case beyond its initial scope and timeframe.

The court set a deadline of October 27, 2023, for responses and scheduled the next hearing for November 1, 2023. Regarding the Faizabad sit-in, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) organized it in November 2017 to protest changes in the Election Bill 2017, demanding the resignation of Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid.
