World’s first 5G commercial service launched in US, when would Pakistan have 5G Internet?

*WASHINGTON - Verizon, a US based company, announced that it is bringing 5G to home users in US.*

There has been tense competition between carriers and internet service providers to claim the title of the world’s first 5G commercial network. By launching 5G for homes, Verizon has solidified it’s claim for this title.

Other US based carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile have been upgrading their networks to support 5G on mobile, while hardware manufactures like Huawei and Xiaomix are developing 5G smartphones.

In a bid to promote the service, Verizon is offering three months of 5G Home internet for free. After this three-month period, the service cost $50 a month for Verizon customers.

Pakistanis will have to wait a long time for 5G internet. Former minister of state for information technology and telecommunication Anusha Rahman said earlier this year that the government is taking great strides to ensure 5G technology would be introduced in Pakistan by 2020.
