LHC Rawalpindi Bench accepts Hanif Abbasi's bail plea in ephedrine case

RAWALPINDI: Lahore High Court (LHC), Rawalpindi Bench Monday accepted plea of Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi, to release him on bail on medical grounds in ephedrine case.
According to details, as hearing started Abassi’s counsel Tanveer Iqbal appealed the court that as his client is heart
and alergy patient and recently his heart surgery was carried out, so he should be granted bail on medical grounds.
The LHC Judge Ibad U Rehman Lodhi and Justice Shahid Mubeen while hearing the plea adjourned the hearing till October 9 and asked the jail administration to submit his reply.
Earlier Control of Narcotics Substances court of Rawalpindi on July 22, had awarded life imprisonment to the PML-N leader and imposed the fine Rs1 million as he was found guilty of selling 500kg ephedrine illegally to narcotics smugglers after recording evidence of the witnesses and final arguments by the defence and prosecution counsels.
The Anti Narcotics Force had registered a case against Abbasi and his accomplices in June 2012 under section 9-C, 14.
