ISLAMABAD – Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, from Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) has been appointed as new Inspector General police Islamabad after former IG Jan Muhammad excused himself from performing duties.

IGP Jan Muhammad was transferred on October 27 after he allegedly refused to take action on a complaint by Federal Minister Azam Swati’s son regarding a fight with a family at their farmhouse.

Some of the key positions that he held by new IG during his career included DIG (Operations) Punjab, DIG (CTD) Punjab, RPO Multan, CPO Multan, SSP (Special Branch) Lahore Region, SSP (Operations) Lahore, PSO to Chief Minister Punjab and DPO Toba Tek Singh.

His professional competence can be gauged from the fact that he was the first ever ASP to receive President Police Medal (PPM) and Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal (QPM).

The Supreme Court earlier on the day withdrew an order for the suspension of the transfer of Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP).
