Court to record Nawaz's statement in Al-Aziza Steel Mills reference today

ISLAMABAD: An Accountability Court of Islamabad postponed the statement recording of former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for a day in Al-Aziza Steel Mills reference.

The accused Nawaz Sharif couldn’t reach judicial complex Islamabad to appear before court due to security issues. However, the junior defense counsel submitted a one-day exemption plea for his client, which was accepted by the court.

Accountability Court Judge Arshad Malik resumed hearing on Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference against deposed prime minister filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The defense counsel Khawaja Haris also couldn’t reach court timely to attend the proceeding.

As the hearing began, the junior defense counsel informed the court that accused couldn’t read to attend the proceeding due to security reasons and closure of various roads.
He requested the court to grant one-day exemption from hearing, which was allowed by the judge.

It may be mentioned here that the court had earlier fixed November 1, a date to record the statement of former prime minister under section 342 of NAB Ordinance.
