Ambassador says peace in Afghanistan is much more important for Pakistan than any other country in region.

Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States, Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry says peace in Afghanistan is a common goal for both Pakistan and the United States.

Addressing students and faculty of Elliot School of International Affairs, at George Washington University, he said peace in Afghanistan is much more important for Pakistan than any other country in the region.

Regarding Pakistan-US relations, the envoy said it is important for both the countries to work together for stability and security of Afghanistan and the region.

In response to a question, Aizaz Chaudhry said the United States can play a useful role to promote a dialogue between Pakistan and India for peaceful resolution of their bilateral disputes, including the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, US Senator from the ruling Republican Party Todd Young has stressed the need for close cooperation between Pakistan and the United States for ensuring peace and stability in the region.

He made these remarks during a meeting with Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Aizaz Chaudhry.

Ambassador Chaudhry briefed the Senator about the Pakistan-US relations and shared Pakistan’s perspective on the situation in South Asia in the wake of the new regional approach that President Trump unveiled in August.
