ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has on Thursday reached Islamabad and will appear before the accountability court (AC) tomorrow, in corruption references filed against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in line with the Supreme Court directive in the Panamagate case.
Strict security arrangements were made at the airport.
Large number of party leaders and workers were present at the airport to welcome him.
Sharif left for Islamabad from Heathrow Airport on PIA flight PK 786.
Talking to the media before his departure for Islamabad, he said that it was not accountability, but political revenge.
“There is contradiction in the Pakistani system. The prime minister is made a hijacker in a minute. Why should I leave the country after each decade?” he questioned.
Nawaz Sharif said that he was not afraid of the NAB and the court warrant.
“I have already seen jails. I am going to face the case despite illness of my wife,” he said.
Nawaz Sharif will appear before the accountability court on Friday, November 3, in connection with corruption references filed against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in line with the Supreme Court directive in the Panamagate case.
