Cancer patient father in IOK seeks justice for teenager martyred son

ISLAMABAD: The cancer patient father of Akeel Ahmad Wani, 16,who was among nine civilians shot dead by Indian forces on polling day in central Kashmir on April 9 seeks exemplary punishment to the troops responsible for the killing of his son and other innocent people.
According to KMS, Akeel Ahmad Wani, who belonged to Beerwah area of Budgam district went to fetch medicines for his ailing mother, but returned dead.
Akeel's father, Muhammad Amin, a cancer patient, said his son went out to get medicine from Beerwah market for his mother when he was shot dead by paramilitary forces personnel. "They murdered him without any provocation," he said adding that he was shot in face, leaving Akeel disfigured.
The family is in possession of a video, where Akil is seen shot by paramilitary forces from a very close distance. The family says that a video has also been shot and circulated by the paramilitary forces.
He said Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) was guarding the Polling Station in Churmujroo and they opened fire and shot his son dead. "It was a brutal murder and I hope justice will be served to us," he said.
Akeel was the only son taking care of his ailing father and mother at home. (APP)
