National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Tuesday restarted inquiries against Green View Cooperative Society and Motorway City Housing Society to snub the reemerging land mafias’ activities in Lahore.
According to the report of 24NewsHD TV channel, the powerful land mafia had been activated to rescue its operatives detained by the NAB in corruption charges.
The sources said the land mafia attempted to get illegal relief from the NAB officials but failed.
The NAB Lahore had sought a complete record of the merger of the Motorway City Scheme with the Green View Cooperative Housing from the office of the Registrar Cooperative.
As per the report, the NAB had also decided to investigate the cooperative officers involved in the merger.
Some journalistic and social circles tried efforts to get relief for the former president of Green View Cooperative Housing Society Mian Rafaqat Ali, who is already detained by the NAB, but officials flatly refused.
The NAB authorities also imposed a ban on the entrance of such persons in the Lahore office.
Mian Rafaqat Ali was arrested in February 2021 in a case of embezzlement of Rs400 million and having more than 100 anonymous bank accounts in society.
Moreover, the NAB had succeeded in finding evidence of around 40 commercial, 48 residential, and 1235 Kanal pieces of land that belonged to him and the family.
