Top Afghan Taliban Commander killed in US drone strike

KABUL - In Afghanistan, 29 Taliban including top commander Mullah Abdul Manan have been killed in Helmand province in US drone strike.

According to the provincial governor Mohammad Yasin Khan, Abdul Manan, who was the provincial commander of the Taliban, was meeting local commanders and fighters in the Nawzad district when the strike took place.

His death was confirmed by Taliban members in Helmand and neighboring Kandahar province.

The death of Mullah Manan is seen as a major success by the Afghan officials.
