Pakistan Railways sets an ambitious target to Rs 10 billion business in FY 2018-19

LAHORE - Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has set a target of Rs 10 billion profit for the Railways purely from the business.

Rashid has said the government has fulfilled its promise of running ten new trains during the first 100 days.

Talking to media in Lahore, he said the government promotes tourism through train service and three tourist trains are being launched in this regard. He said steam engine train will be plied from Rawalpindi to Taxila for promotion of tourism.

He said revenue of two billion rupees has been generated during the first 90 days of his tenure. The minister said the revenue of the railways increased by 20 per cent due to an increase in the reservation hours.

He said a target of business worth 10 billion rupees have been set which would be achieved at all costs.

Round the clock reservation of seats will commence in seven divisions, he further told.
