Int’l Day for Abolition of Slavery being observed today

International Day for Abolition of Slavery is being observed on Sunday, to raise awareness about the atrocities of modern slavery.
The focus of this day is on eradicating contemporary forms of slavery, such as human trafficking, forced recruitment of children for use in armed conflicts, child labour, forced marriages and sexual exploitation.
According to International Labour Organization, more than forty million people worldwide are victims of modern slavery.
