Irked India responds back to US President Donald Trump offer over Kashmir mediation

NEW DELHI - Irked India responds back to US President Donald Trump offer over Kashmir mediation.

Indian on Friday conveyed to the United States (US) that Kashmir remained a bilateral issue between Islamabad and New Delhi and mediation on the topic was neither welcome nor warranted.

The stance was conveyed by Minister of External Affairs of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and is the second time New Delhi has rejected an offer of mediation by Washington.

US President Donald Trump had earlier also offered to mediate on the Kashmir issue between the nuclear-armed rivals.

Taking to social media, Jaishankar conveyed to his American counterpart that “any discussion on Kashmir, if at all warranted, will only be with Pakistan and only bilaterally”.
